17 terms
- Async game
- An online game designed to continue over hours or days. Players can take a turn when they are ready instead of staying at the table together.
- City
- An upgraded settlement. It produces more resources from adjacent hexes and is worth more renown.
- Classic
- Frontier's standard ruleset: the familiar board, standard deck and a 10-renown target.
- Elo
- The rating used by Frontier's competitive ladder. Rated wins and losses move it; solo games do not.
- Frontier Plus
- An expanded ruleset with a larger board and additional systems. The same core turn loop still applies.
- Grand Canal
- A Frontier Plus title worth 2 renown. It goes to the eligible player with the leading bridge network.
- Grand Host
- A title worth 2 renown. Play at least three Soldier cards and hold the largest force; the current holder keeps it when tied for the lead.
- Longest Trail
- A title worth 2 renown. Build a continuous route of at least five roads and hold the longest eligible network. An opponent's settlement can break the route.
- Port
- A coastal trade point. A settlement or city beside one can improve your bank trade rate, sometimes for one specific resource.
- Progress card
- A card bought during a game that grants an action, protection or renown. Some renown cards stay hidden until scoring.
- Public Elo
- The rating shown on the public competitive ladder. Display names are masked on public marketing surfaces.
- Raider
- The piece moved after a 7 or a Soldier card. It blocks production on its hex and may let the mover take a resource from an adjacent rival.
- Renown
- Frontier's victory score. Settlements, cities, titles and some cards or scenario systems add renown. Classic games normally end when the active player reaches 10.
- Safe Hand
- The number of resource cards you may hold when a 7 is rolled without discarding. The base is normally 7, or 9 in a two-player game; walls and certain Frontier Plus effects can raise it.
- Scenario
- A named board and rules configuration with its own terrain, modules or strategic emphasis.
- Settlement
- A building placed on a board corner. It earns 1 renown and collects one resource when an adjacent hex produces.
- Trade rate
- How many matching cards you give the bank for one card back. Ports can improve the default rate.
